Sam Wright

Born in the heart of Kansas, Sam Wright was raised in Washington, D.C. where he was steeped in the great myths of America. Returning to central KS in high school, Sam earned a degree in Theatre Arts from Emporia State University before making Kansas City his home. He then appeared on just about every stage in town, including KC Rep, Unicorn, Coterie, and New Theatre Restaurant!

His involvement in the short-lived pop music outfit The Popsicles inspired his creation of an original zombie apocalypse rock opera called The SlaughterHouse Opera, which appeared at bars and music venues around town in 2011-12.

In 2016, Sam connected with lauded UK-based performer/director Nicholas Collett to create Crazy Horse: A Dream of Thunder, a one-man show about the iconic Lakota hero.

Sam then joined the KC folk-Americana band Gullywasher as its banjo player.

In 2018, Sam formally launched SamWrites as the producing outfit for his creative works and in 2021, Wright & Collett created Prejudice & Pride; a modern, American, gender-swapped two-act musical based on the novel Pride & Prejudice!
