What You Will Learn and Do:

  • This session provides hands-on learning about “key framing,” “frame rates” and how the “persistence of vision” makes still images appear to move to the viewer.  In this session the student will construct a simple thaumatrope and a flipbook that simulates animation. The participant will also view examples of animation at different frame rates.

  • Registered participants will receive materials needed for the hands-on activities during this workshop.  REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETE BY MONDAY MAY 5th. These materials are being provided to you free of charge thanks to a grant from the DeBruce Foundation.

We encourage parents to participate with their child during this workshop.  Making the thaumatrope and the flipbook will require paper cutting, hole punching and knot tying.
