Leayn Losh
G. Leayn Losh is presently the Director of Choral & Debate at Rosedale MS in KCKPS USD #500. She also is a private piano and voice teacher at KCYA & Schmitt Music. She owns her own production company Musical Theatrical Studios.
Leayn has received her Bachelor’s of Music and Elementary Education from MWSU in St. Joseph, Mo. She also has her Masters in Humanities and Fine Arts Education from Rockhurst University.
She has taught in the schools for almost 30 years and privately for over 30 years. Leayn is also a musical theatre director, music director, conductor and vocal coach in the KC Metro area. Leayn works with the Greater Kansas City Writing Project teaching original lyric writing workshops to youth. Many of her past students are out in their communities as working musicians from opera to hip-hop. Leayn Is very proud of her students and feels it is quite an honor to have shared and continue to inspire their lives.
She has participated in over 150 musical productions. Some of her favorites include Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, Into the Woods, Fame and A Little Night Music. She has worked for many of the local theatre groups and loves doing theatre in Kansas City. She has also worked with the New York Met’s Creating Original Opera and Musical Theatre program and has produced over 10 original shows with 6-12 aged students. One of the original shows with NDS Lower school in Kansas City received National recognition.
Leayn is very excited to begin work with KCYA and strongly believes in the strength of the Arts in Education.
