Young Audiences Arts Festival

Hundreds of children and their parents enjoyed the beautiful weather at the Young Audiences Arts Festival at the Kansas City Power & Light District on May 21st.

The all day event featured performances on the KC Live Stage:
 Anansi the Spider - Paul Mesner Puppets
Jim Cosgrove & the Hiccups
Carnival on Parade - Traditional Music Society
Uno, Dos, Tres - Mauricio Salguero
Music Around the World - Tri-Percussion
Musical selections from The Wiz - Coterie Theatre (Brad Shaw, Christopher Barksdale & Tosin Morohunfola)
Rags to Riches: the Music of Scott Joplin - Turpin-Tyme Ragsters

Interactive Workshops and Performances on the Elements Stage:
Dance Workshop - KC Friends of Alvin Ailey
Ballet Workshop - Kim Shope & Community School of the Arts students
Mr. Stinky Feet
Anderson Family Band - Community School of the Arts students
Heart of America Shakespeare Festival student performance & workshop

Children also had the opportunity to create art with the fine folks from the Mattie Rhodes Art Center and Children's Mercy Hospitals STAR program.

It was really fun!  Our daughter said she wants to always do the KCYA camps. She was sorry it was over. You have a great gift working with the kids."
