Pre-Recorded Programs

 

Pre-Recorded Virtual Programs are streaming videos – available for use within 24-48 hours. These asynchronous programs can be shared with students who are learning remotely (in their own homes) or presented to a gathered class. Many of the artists are offering an optional 'live' meet-the-artist discussion before or after viewing the performance.

 

We also offer Live Virtual Programs.

 


 

Pre-recorded programs are easy to book and easy to use:

 

1. Decide which program(s) you want from the list below. Follow the links for pricing and other information.

 

2. Email the programming team at booknow@kcya.org or call 816.531.4022 with the following information. When the booking is complete, you’ll be given a link that remains live for up to two weeks.

  • Program name
  • How many students will participate?
  • What are their grade levels?
  • When would you like to access the program?

 

3. Share the link with your students! They can watch it simultaneously (from home or from your classroom) or they can watch it on their own time, as many times as they want while the link remains live.

 


 

Arabiqa

with Karim Nagi (grades K-12)

 

Learn about Arab dance, music, language, and more in a high-energy performance by percussionist Karim Nagi. Featuring exciting traditional dances and soulful folk music Karim enlightens his audience about the Arab world beyond the headlines. 

 

 

Election Special

with Jay and Leslie (grades 3-6)

 

Jay and Leslie use visual aids and humor to explain important election topics in two separate videos, one about the Electoral College and the other examining Gerrymandering. Jay and Leslie’s thorough research and deft touch make learning about these tricky topics easy and fun. Enhance your students’ understanding with an optional follow up discussion!

 

 

Emotion Detectives

with Jay and Leslie (grades PK-2)

 

In this lighthearted and fun series of three videos, students learn techniques for managing overwhelming emotions. Jay and Leslie also introduce a fun game that helps students identify and name emotions while learning about the art of mime. Excuse Me Are You a Dragon?

with StoneLion Puppet Theatre (grades PK-4)

 

Young King Edwin is bored and believes a dragon would be fun to fight. His musical journey finds him encountering banshees, trolls, ogres, and more as he realizes sometimes you should not get what you ask for. Optional live chat back with puppets can be scheduled around the performance.

 

 

The Great Race

with StoneLion Puppet Theatre (grades K-4)

 

Based on the Aesop fable “The Tortoise and the Hare” this retelling with a “healthy twist” incorporates rod and shadow puppets. What do you think happens? Will the jelly doughnut rule or will the salad speak, as we all learn that kindness is always the winner? Optional live chat back with puppets can be scheduled around the performance.

 

 

I’d Rather Be a Hummingbird

with StoneLion Puppet Theatre (grades PK-3)

 

This musical will transport you to a world where you realize it is not the size of the effort, but the fact you tried that matters. Little Nigel the beaver is unhappy he can’t do everything the big beavers can do, but learns a valuable lesson when the forest catches on fire

 

 

Letters, Numbers, Shapes, and Colors

with Jay and Leslie (grades PK-1)

 

Leslie and Jay Cady use mime and juggling to reinforce basic concepts students need for kindergarten. They will count, recognize patterns, identify shapes, and more. Enhance your students’ understanding with an optional follow up discussion!

 

 

The Ogre’s Tail

The true story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. What happens when tall tales are spread either out of fear or to make yourself look better? Learn the real story about a troll and three billy goats. Optional live chat back with puppets can be scheduled around the performance.

with Mr. Stinky Feet (grades PK-6)

 

Your students will learn about their personal rhythm and how to respect others in this interactive character education program. Students identify three specific ways they can exemplify respect in their communities.

with Jay and Leslie (grades 1-6)
