Creative Drama
This imaginative class is for the little ones who like to act out stories and play pretend. Each week, students will take a journey to a faraway land. Children’s books, poems, costumes and props will be used to bring adventures to life. The teaching artist will emphasize fun and students often lead the way. The final class will incorporate a sharing for parents to take part in the magic! Suitable for: beginners

Beginning Acting
Imagination required! In this dynamic class students will use theatre games and improvisational scene work to study the fundamentals of performance. Warm-ups, vocal exercises, movement and character work will all be used to overcome inhibitions and awaken the inner actor. Students will learn the basics of rehearsing and performing simple scenes that will be shared with family and friends during the last class. Suitable for: beginners

Musical Theatre
Become a triple threat! Students will sing, dance, and act their way into musical theatre. Students will focus on scenes and popular songs from Broadway Musicals. This creative and fun class teaches students how to combine the elements of musical theatre in an energetic and compelling manner. The class will culminate in a performance for family and friends. Suitable for: all levels

Beginning Improv
Improvisational techniques, performance skills, and imagination are all it takes to create hilarious comedy sketches and improv scenes. No scripts or props needed! Students will work with a professional teaching artist to develop their own comedic style and put it all together for a performance for family and friends. Near the close of the session, Improv classes will collaborate with KCYA's Garage Band for a live showcase for friends and families. Suitable for: all levels

Intermediate Improv

Advanced Acting
In this class students will increase their knowledge of how to create a character for the stage. Voice and diction, character movement and improvisation will all be used to hone their acting skills. The process of creating theatre will also be examined through the eyes of the playwright, director and designers. Come explore what makes someone else tick! Scene work will be shared with family and friends on the last day. Suitable for: previous acting experience

Advanced Improv
This class is for the student who has had acting or improv before and is ready for more challenging material. Students will work with a professional teaching artist to develop their won comedic style and put it all together for a performance for family and friends. Near the close of the session, Improv classes will collaborate with KCYA's Garage Band for a live performance for families and friends. Suitable for: previous acting/improv experience
