Jackie Niekamp

Jackie Niekamp holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an emphasis in printmaking and fibers.

As a Kansas City native, Jackie’s work ruminates on growing up in the Midwest and retelling childhood stories from the Ozarks. Placing a high importance on craft and the infallible rule that art-making should be a fun and humorous process, Jackie spins stories of her uncommon upbringing and weaves them into whimsical scenes of folly, bringing up ideas of memory and the importance of family traditions.

Her experience as an art educator spans from after school programs for underserved youth, to adults with developmental disabilities, to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
