Summer Music Classes

Garage Band
Play, collaborate, and create with others in a 'garage' rock band format. Every member will have the chance to try out the various instruments and roles: electric guitar, keyboard, and vocals. Through experimentation and practice, the group will create its own unique sound. STUDENTS MUST ALREADY HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH THE GUITAR, BASS, KEYBOARD or DRUMS. Students must speak with Teaching Artist Chris Hudson prior to the first class.
Already in a band? Want to create a band with a group of friends? Additional times are available for pre-formed groups - work with Chris Hudson to take your band's sound to the next level.

College Audition Prep
This course will walk students through the entirety of the college audition process. With interactive lectures on Applications and Auditions, Material Selection, School Selection, and What Happens in the Room. Along with workshop opportunities for their entire audition package, students will receive the information and tools they need to have a successful college audition experience.

Pre-Ballet Classes
Students will learn basic ballet technique and practice to improve coordination skills and flexibility in this lively and positive class. Dancers are taught to march, skip, gallop, and soar through the air with pointed toes and straight knees preparing them for Ballet I.

Ballet I & II
Students will concentrate on ballet technique, correct French terminology and flexibility. Classes are structured to teach ballet movements that improve technique but also move and travel across the floor allowing for an energetic and lively class.

Ballet III - VI
Ballet III, IV, V and VI classes will greatly improve technique, strength, flexibility, musicality, grace and artistry. Ballet class combinations are created to build a greater knowledge base of terminology while also increasing the dancer's ability to execute several steps together in one combination. Most classes will meet two times per week.

Main Street Dancers
This class for advanced ballet students will focus on performance preparation, choreography and advanced skills. The Main Street Dancers will be asked to perform at various public events throughout the year. Must have instructor approval.

Hip Hop I, II, III
These classes teach rhythm, coordination, and age-appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music/movements. Hip Hop is upbeat and great for kids who like to move! No experience necessary for Hip Hop I. Hip Hop II and III students must have completed Hip Hop I or have instructors approval.

Dance for Musical Theatre
During this dance course, students will learn different techniques of musical theatre dance. Miss Franci will incorporate Broadway jazz, light ballet and basic musical theatre movement. We will dance to songs from classical musicals, revivals, and new Broadway show tunes to highlight the rich history of American Musical Theatre. This high energy class will bring fun and excitement to dancers ages 5-12.

Lyrical for Teens and Adults
Lyrical Dance is a combination of Horton Modern technique and contemporary dance, focusing on a connection with the music. This is a great style for any dancer with training in ballet or jazz who wants to expand his/her knowledge, performance quality, and stage presence. This class encourages students’ dancing spirits through well-crafted dance technique, filled with creative imagery and inspiring music.
