Performing Arts Sampler

This course will provide your tiny dancer or budding actor with a sampling of artistic experiences. Our professional teaching artists will work with your child to provide introductory instruction in performing arts disciplines: creative movement, drama,and music. Your child will have the opportunity to explore his or her own talents and interests while becoming a well-rounded artist.

Theatre from Head to Toe

Actors don't just speak.....They move! The greatest musical theater actors in the world are called "triple threats," which means they can sing and dance as well as act. This course will be the beginning of your triple threat training. Get started! Learn to project voice and body on stage!

Act Up

At last, a place where students are encouraged to "act up". Your child's self esteem will grow through theatre games, ensemble techniques and improvisation. Using well known stories and their imagination, students will create and perfrom short skits and scenes.

Acting

Learn acting techniques used by the pros! Our professional teaching artists will lead young performers through theatre games and improvisation techniques designed to stimulate the actor's imagination, voice and body. The class concludes with introductory scene and character study.

Continue developing your skills and delve deeper into character, monologue and scene study.  Pre-requisite: Acting I or instructor approval.

Improvisation

 

Learn how to live in the moment and take positive risks in drama, comedy, and real life through games and activities that exercise improvisational skills.

Acting for Teens

 

Acting is a craft as well as an art form. Hone that craft by delving deeper into character development skills, monologue and scene study. Special emphasis is placed on audition and rehearsal techniques to get you cast in your school, community or professional production.

The CSA Players

 

Enroll now for the Community School of the Arts acting troupe! The CSA Players will be featured in a number of performances throughout the session and will also perform at Open Mic Nights on February 24, March 31, and April 28.

Auditions: Saturday January 24, 2009 at 12:00 noon. Please prepare a short monologue, poem or story.

 

Eligibility: Any student aged 8-18 is welcome to audition. Please Note: You must be enrolled in a spring 2009 CSA class (group or private) to join the CSA Players.  (If you are a current member of CSA Players, you do not need to audition)

If cast in the CSA Players, rehearsals will be Saturdays from noon – 1:20pm beginning the first Saturday in February.  These rehearsals are mandatory. If you miss 2 rehearsals you may be asked to leave the Players, so check your calendars before auditioning.

If cast, there is a one-time fee of $100.00 for props, costumes, and other related materials.
