Through a partnership with St. Teresa's Academy and the support of many community funders and artists, the Community School of the Arts opened January 5, 2004. The Community School of the Arts (CSA) was created to offer students the next step in exploring their own artistic and creative abilities. The CSA is truly unique as it is the only place in Kansas City where all the artistic disciplines are taught. We know that the arts are a significant part of the development of happy and successful people. Arts education helps students learn self-discipline, respect of others, cooperation, and allows students a positive outlet for their emotions.
Children as young as four years old may take group classes in creative writing, dance, drama, music, and visual art. Private instruction is available in creative writing and vocal and instrumental music. CSA classes meet after school and on Saturdays. During the summer, full day, week long Summer Camps offer outstanding opportunities for children to express themselves.
Now our expanded ArtReach program can bring the Community School of the Arts classes to your school or community center! Click here for more information.
