KCYA Celebrates Opening
We are so excited to be in our new home at 3732 Main Street in Kansas City, Missouri. The move went smoothly, nearly 600 guests attended our Grand Opening Celebration and our first session of classes is in full swing!
“We are thrilled with our new Midtown home! This newly-renovated creative space is the culmination of a lot of hard work by KCYA staff, board, campaign committee, friends, etc. We are fortunate to have received a great deal of support from the philanthropic community as well. This project is a seminal moment in the life of this organization. However, I’ll tell you the thing that has made it all worthwhile—seeing children dancing in the studios, collaborating on arts projects in the Creativity Lab, singing songs they wrote in the Garage Band studio, performing on the stage, etc. Seeing children creating, learning, and growing in this new space is the best reward!" said Martin English, KCYA Executive Director.
We are so thankful to have worked with the talented and dedicated teams from Helix + Design and McCown Gordon Construction through the process.
A $3.5 million capital campaign began in May 2016. We are grateful for strong support from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, the Hall Family Foundation, the David T. Beals III Charitable Trust, Bank of America, Trustee, and Impact KC for getting us started. In the short term, we have received a loan from IFF to purchase the building. IFF is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, specializing in strengthening nonprofits and the communities they serve.
While we are all moved in we still have more to funds to raise to finish the project debt free. Get Involved in the HEART of the CITY Capital Campaign.
