KCYA Purchases New Home
We are thrilled to announce that Kansas City Young Audiences has purchased the building at 3732 Main Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Having our own home will allow us more control over our future and an opportunity to serve even more children.
"The purchase of 3732 Main Street is a very exciting end to our 16-month search for a new home." We began a search for a new home last year after learning St. Teresa's Academy (STA) would not be able to renew our lease, our home for the last 12 years. "We are tremendously excited about having our own space, and the location on Main Street will certainly increase awareness of our organization," said Martin English, KCYA Executive Director.
Helix + Design will provide design and engineering services to create a flexible interior that serves the educational, workplace, event and performance functions of the organization. The new space will include dance studios, multi-purpose classroom for art and theatre classes, a mixed-use performance and event space as well as offices for the staff.
A $3.5 million capital campaign will begin in May. We are grateful for strong support from the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, the Hall Family Foundation, the David T. Beals III Charitable Trust, Bank of America, Trustee, and Impact KC for getting us started. In the short term, we have received a loan from IFF to purchase the building. IFF is a non-profit organization based in Chicago, specializing in strengthening nonprofits and the communities they serve.
We plan to move into the new space by the end of 2016. The first acting, dance and music classes will begin in January 2017. Get Involved in the HEART of the CITY Capital Campaign.
