STEAM Professional Development

Join Us for a Professional Development Seminar for Classroom Teachers and KCYA Teaching Artists!

Saturday, October 8, 2016

1:00-4:00pm

At The Whole Person - 3710 Main St, KCMO

This Professional Development Session is open to classroom educators and teaching artists regardless of their participation in the STEAM Residency Project.

As phase two of our pilot program, we will pair a teaching artist with a classroom teacher to incorporate arts experiences to the project based learning featured in this new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) curriculum.  This professional development session will explore best practices in the ever-evolving field of arts integration.  In addition, we will dive into the LAUNCH curriculum in greater detail to generate ideas for high-quality arts integration projects and experiences.

Join us as we prepare for the next level of arts integration - featuring more frequent classroom visits and a deeper connection to the curriculum to provide the best outcomes for student learning.

It's FREE!   Contact Kara Armstrong at 816.531.4022  or via email: karmstrong@kcya.org to reserve your spot!

Together we can spark success in education through arts integration!

  • "The work these men (Recipe Poetry Guild) do with my students is amazing I am continually surprised that my traditionally mute students spark up and open up in these workshops. Also, I want to say that could see these gentlemen as visting artists in residence in the KCMO school district. They are so constructive and positive."    KC Public Schools Teacher
