Kansas City Young Audiences needs interns to help us in the office with data entry, event planning, and supervising the many students who attend the Community School of the Arts.  Interns have a rewarding experience by assisting students to discover their artistic abilities and by supporting the work of our very busy staff.

We are currently seeking a Community School of the Arts Assistant (Part Time)

Description

Kansas City Young Audiences seeks a part time Community School of the Arts (CSA) Assistant with strong computer and customer service skills.  The CSA Assistant is responsible for answering the door and telephone, registering students for the CSA, interacting with parents and teaching artists, processing payments, filing, and database entry.  The CSA Assistant would also contribute as a productive team member assisting other staff on individual or group projects as requested.  The approximate schedule is Monday, Wednesday (4:00pm – 8:00 pm) and Fridays (3:00 pm – 7:00 pm) with occasional Tuesday, Thursdays (4:00pm – 8:00pm) and Saturdays (9:00am – 2:00pm) Approximately 12 hours/week. Some flexibility required. An ideal candidate could start immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding communication and customer service to parents, students and teaching artists, with focus on building long-term customer relationships
  • Process and maintain accurate student enrollments, parent data, and class schedules, using agency database
  • Provide follow-up for completing student registrations and payments
  • Answer telephone and greet visitors in friendly and professional manner
  • Assist with other Community School of the Arts operations as needed

Qualifications

Education: High School Degree Required, College degree preferred. 

Experience

Previous customer service experience and background in the Arts and/or Education preferred.

Skills

Strong computer skills needed.  Must have proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.  Some database management experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) are a must. Must be able to multi-task, demonstrate adaptability and be organized/ detail-oriented. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

Pay Range & Benefits  

$10 - $12/hour. Paid Time Off, 403 (b) Retirement Plan
