All classes are held at the Community School of the Arts at 5601 Wyandotte Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64113. We’re located in the Music and Arts Building on the campus of St. Teresa’s Academy between Brookside and the Plaza. 816.531.4022
St. Teresa's Academy has asked that we park on the east side of Wyandotte Street (closest to STA) or in the STA parking lot off of 57th Street. Absolutely no one is to park on the west side of Wyandotte or on Westover Street. Thanks for following this new parking policiy and helping us be good neighbors.
The first day of the Fall Session is September 6, 2016.
The first day of the Spring Session is Monday, January 30, 2017 (at 3732 Main Street)
The Director of Arts Education and Director of Marketing & Business Development share responsibility for the CSA and report to Martin English, the Executive Director of Kansas City Young Audiences.
Please call Janell Rinne at 816.531.4022 for information about enrolling in a group class. Private instruction is offered through a number of fabulous teaching artists who you should contact directly.
Enrollments for group classes after the fourth week of the session require approval from the teaching artist. Please call to inquire. 816-531-4022
Enrollments for private instruction lessons must be arranged through the Teaching Artist.
We encourage you to enroll before the first day of class. However, we will try our best to accommodate late enrollments and to adjust tuitiun fees accordingly. Please call 816.531.4022 for more information.
CSA Dance Class Attire:
Pre-Ballet and Ballet I-VI Classes: Ladies: solid color leotard, pink tights and pink leather ballet slippers. Hair must be pulled away from the face in a bun or ponytail. Please bring rubber hair bands and barrettes to each class. Gentlemen: T-shirt, black leggings or bike shorts, and white or black leather ballet slippers.
Hip Hop: Loose fitting clothes and bare feet or sneakers for Hip Hop and hard soled shoes, ballet slippers or Jazz shoes for Ballroom that are only worn for Hip Hop or Ballroom class. (Please, no street shoes in the dance studios.)
Jazz and Modern: Loose fitting clothes or leotard and jazz pants with jazz shoes or ballet slippers. Hair in ponytail.
Dance for Musical Theater and Tap: Loose fitting clothes or leotard and jazz pants with tap shoes. Ballet or Jazz shoes are advised but not mandatory.
Parent and Me Pre-Ballet: Adults in Parent & Me class should wear comfortable clothes and socks or bare feet. No leotards required. Children can wear comfortable clothes and bare feet or the same attire as Pre-Ballet.
Stretch and Tumbling and Dance is My SuperPower: Loose fitting clothes and bare feet.

Dance Shoes should never be worn outside, only in the Dance Studio. Street shoes are not allowed on the Gray dance floor.

Payless Shoes has proper ballet slippers for boys and girls and a search for “dancewear” will help you find leotards, tights and shoes near you.

On inclement weather days, a decision may need to be made to cancel classes. We will make that decision by 2:00pm, but we also reserve the right to cancel classes after 2:00pm if the weather conditions worsen.
