KCYA Community School of the Arts offers full and part-time internships during our Spring Break Camps and Summer Camps
KCYA's Spring Break and Summer Camps
- Meet Monday - Friday for one week
- Two weeks of Spring Break Camps will be offered in March
- Nine weeks of Summer Camp run in June and July
- Intern shifts are either 8:15am - 12:30pm OR 12:00pm - 4:30 or 5:30pm.
- Interns may request their desired schedule - either AM or PM.
Student Interns will:
- Help to engage, inspire, and supervise a group of campers.
- Serve as a classroom assistant.
- Oversee snack, lunch, and restroom breaks
- Assist with clean up after lunch and other activities
- Participate with the students and/or assist them with classroom activities
- Assist teaching artists and KCYA staff with other tasks as needed
- Help to create an environment that makes each child feel safe and supported
Eligible Student Applicants:
- Must be over 16 years of age
- Must have a school teacher or KCYA teaching artist recommendation
- Would work the same schedule every day, Monday - Friday, for one week or more

This is an excellent resume-builder for those who are interested in pursuing a career in the arts, education or arts education, as well as an excellent opportunity to network with some of Kansas City’s most highly respected artists.
Student age groups include: 5-7, 8-10, and or 10-13 year olds (Sometimes we combine 8-13 year olds)
Work-study opportunities may also be available through your school.
